Effective January 25, 2012, Mexico became the 41st participating state to join the Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies. To be admitted, a country must produce/export arms or sensitive equipment and maintain nonproliferation policies as well as appropriate national export controls.

Effective January 25, 2012, Mexico became the 41st participating state to join the Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies. To be admitted, a country must produce/export arms or sensitive equipment and maintain nonproliferation policies as well as appropriate national export controls.

Admission of new members requires the consensus of all members. Mexico is only the second country in Latin America to gain membership after Argentina.
