On October 18, the Peruvian Congress approved the draft resolution to authorize the entry of U.S. troops into the country in November, informed the Secretary of Parliament.

The foreign military members are Marines and Special Forces that, along with Peruvian Military, will perform training in field activities, according to the resolution.

Congressman José Urquizo, head of the Congressional Defense Committee and former minister of Defense, supported the measure, and stated that the draft sent by the presidency “fulfils all the requirements established by the Peruvian Constitution.”

Urquizo explained that the authorization is for the entire month of November, and it responds to an established schedule for the entry of foreign troops into Peruvian territory.
